Although the summer hasn’t quite lived up to the very high standards that we set this time last year, that doesn’t mean that we have to completely write off summer 2019 as a massive failure. Stock levels are high amongst the high streets and turnover is key, so be set for some very frantic summer sales!
Key pieces I try to look out for when shopping the sales are styles and designs that I think will have longevity. Summer fashion can sometimes be “flash in the pan” designs are “fast fashion” as it’s more commonly known. These styles can be great if you can pick up a cheap bargain for a certain upcoming event. But if you really want to get your money’s worth then try searching for styles that can be resurrected next year. Classic crochet vest tops and lightweight linen trousers are two timeless items that can be good to dig out in the sales
Other items I always look out for are shoes and accessories. Shoes and accessories are key wardrobe staples for any time of year. A pair of cute sandals for your next holiday? Lightweight skinny Jeans for those everyday affairs? Again look out for styles with longevity, those of a more classic design such as a plain white sports trainers or woven gladiator sandals in a beautiful tan colour.
Shopping the sales can be the most fun if we are willing to dedicate some time to the process. In the end you may end up going over budget once you get into the rhythm of picking out key pieces to complete outfits and looks. Big online brands such as ASOS and boohoo have already begun with some really hot sales so be sure to be quick if you don’t want to miss out on the best styles.
